Poems on Silence

Part 1: The Ego’s Silence – Excerpt from “A Course in Miracles” Workshop

In Part 1 of this two-part video series, Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D. reads and speaks about the poem “The Ancient Love,” as well as the first stanza of the poem, “Conversion.” In these poems, the author, Helen Schucman (scribe of “A Course in Miracles), writes starkly and poetically about the silence of the ego—a silence which banishes and locks away all things of Love, which comes from fear of this Selfsame Love.

Part 2: The Silence of the Holy Spirit – Excerpt from “A Course in Miracles” Workshop

In Part 2 of this two-part video series, Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D. begins by reading the poem “Conversion,” which he began in Part 1. In this poem, Helen Schucman (scribe of “A Course in Miracles”) gives expression to the siren song of the Holy Spirit’s silence, a silence that has haunted the ego’s defensive denial of Love ever since it imagined that it could somehow separate from God and His all-encompassing Being.
